Despite frozen toes and fingers, Adam and I braved the cold at Smith and Bybee for some good old fashioned bird watching. We are the quintessential beginners and I find it very cute and kind of embarrassing. There are so many little song birds! And they move so quickly! And to make matters worse we pretty much never agree on what we saw. "Well, it had a red belly, it could be a ..." "No it didn't." We started saying out loud, while looking at the bird, what we were seeing. That helped alot and allowed me to thumb through the book while he kept the binoculars trained on our subject. And even though the trip was cut short by the cold, I feel more familiar with what to look for the next time out.
