This past weekend we had our first batch of real spring. The kind of weather that wakes you up at sun rise. Heat that causes you to drink water instead of hot tea. Days that drive pale skinned hibernaters to the backyard...and so we ventured forth to see what five able-bodied humans could do. Well, we did a lot! Check it out, we dug two gorgeous, lofty beds in the annual garden plot, cleared and cultivated the south facing side yard, laid a brick border along the patio, built a brick and stone fire pit, and planted kale, chard, broccoli, onions, peppers, strawberries, sage, raspberries, and a marionberry. Still to come: tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, blueberries, kiwi, an apple tree, beets, carrots, zinnias, sunflowers, basil, calendula, chives, rosemary, lavender, and pumpkins for Halloween. It feels so good to give myself this experience.
